1960 Rock~ola Tempo IIE
1960 Rock~Ola Tempo II Model 1478 Juebox
I purchased this jukebox on Dec. 2, 2009. This jukebox was originally located at Bailey's in Bridge City, Texas. Fortunately, it was sold several years ago and moved to another city, so it was not affected by the storm surge from Hurricane Ike.

The Tempo II is the 25th anniversary model for Rock~ola and is the second year that stereo jukeboxes were made. My model 1478 can hold 60 records, for a total of 120 songs. The model 1485, which looks identical except for having five selector buttons at the top instead of three, could hold 100 records. About 5415 model 1478 jukeboxes were made. Mine is pretty good cosmetically, the major blemish being a cigarrette burn across selection buttons 38, 39, and 40. The mechanics work, but need adjusting and cleaning. The electronics need a lot of refurbishing. The paper capacitors need to be replaced, the tone arm needs to be rebuilt, and some of the wiring needs to be redone. The jukebox does not currently play due to these problems.

The two pictures below show the worst cosmetic issues. The cigarette burns mentioned above, light pitting uniformly across the chrome, and the light diffuser in the top. The light diffuser is reproduced.
