Most members of this site are from widespread locations across the world, so we've never met for a cruise. You might want to look into the existance of a local car club. When I lived in Temple they had just started a local chapter of the AACA - I think it was called the Bluebonnet Chapter. There is a big meet in Salado every year - not sure which club sponsors it. Also, you might consider joining The Buick Club of America. They have active chapters across the country, technical advisors for most years of Buicks, and a national meet every year, sometimes in Texas:

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your efforts to make this site great.

I'm 53 and own two 1958 LIMITEDs: model 750 and 756. My first, I've now owned for over 10 years, was a 25th wedding anniversary gift in 1958 to the wife of a furniture company owner in Hickory,NC. She named her new Buick "LANA" after the famed movie actress Lana Turner, who was her favorite at the time. The proud wife requested that the name of the car be retained by future owners... My convertible was owned by a Chicago country club member... I also have a beautifully restored 1963 Riviera. I live in Pensacola, Florida. I am a pipe organ builder and recitalist. I also am a composer and travel often. The first car I ever drove was a 1958 Buick Special four door sedan.

I am a newbie to this forum. I am a 38 year old school teacher and I live south of Pittsburgh, PA. I have a 58 limited convertible, 58 limited 4dr, 57 Olds super 88, and a 42 ford GPW (army jeep). I will be starting the restoration on the convertible soon and am seeking some parts and a source for re-chroming.

Welcome, Maxluke, and everyone else. What shape is your convertible in? I'm currently helping a gentleman in Australia with his basket case Limited Convertible. Let me know your needs and I'll try to help you too.

There are several chrome shops available, depending on the quality you desire. For show chrome and potmetal repair (expensive) there is The Finishing Touch in Chigago:

http://www.thefinishingtouchinc.com/

or the Australian man used Cambridge Custom Chrome in Canada. They have a US mailing address:

http://cambridgecustomchrome.com/

There are dozens of chrome shops that can be found in each state too, especially if the chrome isn't for show.

Check the transmission section for info about rebuilding the Flight Pitch tranny. What options does your Limited have?

Hey Folks,

My name is Joshua Zornes and I live in the almost nonexistant town of Chapman, Nebraska. I am 19 years old and have had more cars then some guys girlfriends  . My first car was a 57 Chevy Bel Air, and the second and the third. Then a 67 Ford half ton with 351 Cleveland modified (lay it baby!), then a 72 Chevrolet Impala Convertible (needed body work and top) ran good, tilt, cruise, disc brakes, etc, 1958 Buick Special that I saw on the way to a college visit and locked up the brakes in my 57 Chevy on the highway the very second I saw it! got out and got a good look. I was awestruck at the majesty of the design of these. Got a hold of the owner and $850 bought it, took it apart to restore in college but then I learned about the Limited Edition car and said heck why have a Special when I could have a Limited!. Sold it for 50 Bucks (chrome was good, interior needed redone, rusted floors, motor siezed up, etc) so I could get my current driver my 56 Pontiac StarChief (fully restored, older), also had a 55 Packard Patrician (amazingly elegant cars!), and I traded my 72 Chevy off for a 59 Buick LeSabre (pictured on atvar) The 59 is a SUPER RARE 59. Factory 3 speed manual (only on lesabre series), 2 door sedan (not many made), its a plain jane car originaly with exception of radio and heater! Even the V in middle of grille was option for lesabre, backup lights, clock, this car never had any of that originaly. Its my hot rod because there is nothing like power steering or vacume for automatic trans to take power away! Originally had 250 HP, with the awesome Smithys dual exhaust that freed up about 25 horsepower, then when I get a 58 Intake with 4 barrel carb it will have over 300 HP    . I am working of trading it off for that 58 Limited I mentioned with factory air ride! :D :D :D I know the whereabouts of a 58 Roadmaster in rust free nice very nice shape, several other 58 buicks 57 Buicks and many other years up in the sandhills area of Nebraska eastern Wyoming. (rust free cars everywhere up there). Its a MASSIVE classic car lovers dream shop. they DO NOT part out the cars. They sell them whole! some are good, some are very sad (wrecked). The Roadmaster is NOT in the menu because its a special car the owner got in a deal for 57 chevys or something like that. wyomingclassiccars.com check it out!

Best Regards
Josh

i am 42 years old, and lives in Köln/ Collogne Germany wich is a nice City to life.

I have a 58 Buick Roadmaster Convertibel, and i´am starting to restore it, cause it was a long dream of myself to get a car like this.
The colors are mystic-blue and interieur is red.

This car was stocked for more than 20 years just at the street, so you can emagin in wich shape it is.

So what i hope to find here is a network wich can help me to find the parts wich i need.

My plan is to restore the car 100% original, without anny compromisis.

Iám kocking forward, to here from somebody soon.

Thanks

Welcome Thorsten!

You are in good company. This group possesses much knowledge & sources for
parts and services. Your biggest challenge will be parts that are
unique to the Roadmaster; mostly trim. Try to save any of this
trim regardless of condition. Also, try to determine which
transmission you have. Although your car was delivered with
a Flight Pitch Dynaflow; many of these were replaced over the years
with the standard Dynaflow.

Join the BCA (Buick Club of America) if you haven't already.

Good Luck,

Hi Mike,

Thanks for writing to me. I hope that you can Help me,cause you are driving a 58 Roadmaster, right?
What is specaly made only for the roadmaster, to the other big series?

My car is 100% compled, but in principal bad shape:
The only things wich get changed in all these years was the otutdrill of the air suspension.I still have some of these parts to.

What I will need is:
Full set of perfect glass
Fuel-Tank
Front grill (my one is brocken)
Center emblem for the hood.
New Seats, and all the Doorpanles.
The vyniels for the dashboard.
Also the Leathe for the seats, and the carpet for the floor.
Convertible top, Power-Pump , and Cylinders for Convertibel
Some sheet.-metals for the floor-sektion, and trunk section .
My Engine needs to be overhaulen, it´s the original one, but I don’t know if that make anny sense, ore does my car have a maching, number???? Like Cadillac??
The transmission is the flight pitsh- dynaflow original. Power brake, power steering, electric -seats, No A/C, color-glass, Sonomatic-Radio with push button, power window,.
I have nearly all the exterieurs/ Trim and also nearly the interiuer Trimm but I will need to change some parts( Rust)
I need the ashtrays with insert in the back, and one in the dashboard.
The Body of my car is very straight, and the compled car was never restored, painted or weldet to. So it is an “original” car, but in a bad shape!!
I will also by a compled / Parts-car if this will fit to my model. ( 2 door HT)
Thanks and hope to here from you soon.

Here are a couple shots I took today when I checked it out...

It's definitely a project, but it's all there, and loaded with options!

It is actually supposed to be a Silver Mist car...it has had one repaint in a slightly darker color. The underside of the trunk lid has the original paint on it:

Looks like a good solid car with all of the rare and hard to find chrome present. How is the interior? I see it has the air ride compressor, does it still have the air springs, or has it been converted to coil springs?

EDIT - Oh, I see the air hose going from the compressor to the air tank is missing, so it has coil springs

Yep, regular springs now. The line was pinched off at the compressor.

The interior is pretty much wasted. I have an entire roll of the correct cloth, so to me, half the battle has been won. I just need to shell out the $$$$ for the leather.
