Heater core upgrade

Postby Resurrector » Thu Dec 13, 2012 10:51 pm

My heater core is shot, I don't suppose anyone knows of a core from a newer vehicle that will fit, even with some heater box mods? It's a long shot, thought I'd ask...I refuse to pay $400 or more to have the old one rebuilt, when new ones from newer stuff are typically way cheaper and often easy to fit in. Will report back on my findings.

Hello Resurrector,

My heater core was leaking from several holes in the core. I brought mine to a local radiator shop and they re-cored my heater core for about $220.
The way the heater core is bolted into the housing (very tight fit with brackets attached to the top and bottom tank) will probably make it difficult to find a fitting core from another car.
Just my two cents.
