crank pulley

The engine is getting closer to being dropped in. I noticed, though, that there is a round ring of rubber that is supposed to be inserted into the crank pulley. The original is broken and seems to have shrunk. Does anyone know where I can find a new one? Oh, and what does it do? Cheers. Michael.

Are you referring to the balancer that has the large bolt holding it onto the crank?

The harmonic balancer has a ring of rubber in the center to act as a damper from vibration. If the rubber is missing, the inner portion of the balancer will be slipping inside the outer portion. I suspect all you are missing is just the edge of it that protrudes out the front.

Do you know where I can find a new one? Mine is cracked and very old as you can imagine. Cheers. Michael.
