1958 buick special

Postby bcraig » Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:54 pm

hi all, new to the site and have many questions. i just traded a running halfway restored 1978 chevy nova for a 1958 buick special 4 door sedan. it is completely original down to the tires. its been in dry storage since 1972 the interior is rough but no rust, it was rearended got a small dent in trunk lid and the rear bumper is missing. trunk and floors are solid no holes. no carpet, door panels are actually really nice. everything is there all chrome is intact just dingy eyebrows are a little dinged up, i really like the car just appears to not be alot of resources to find parts that i need. i have restored several old cars like a 62 belair, 64 el camino i still own and a 78 nova there just seems to be many more resources for old chevys any help would greatly be appreciated ill post pics as soon as i upload them thanks in advance.... Brian

Welcome to the board. Read through the old posts, there are links to parts suppliers and there is also great advice. Do not be afraid to ask questions, everyone is willing to help out or refer you to someone who can.

Brian, no other bumper will interchange. Keep an eye on ebay for one. Also, there are a couple of '58 Buick specialists who might have one. They are the '58 Buick tech advisers for the Buick Club of America:

Frank Lyle - buickranch58@msn.com

Gene Reynolds - mr58buick@aol.com

Gene is retired so I don't know if he still has many parts

As far as the nonworking lights, etc, I would check the fuse block first. But, after sitting in a barn for all those years the wiring might have been chewed by vermin.
