My next most favorite car - 1958 Olds. Can you post a picture of it in the Lounge? And, post pics of your Buicks in the Miscellaneous section - I started a picture thread.

Hello,
I'll see what I can find this coming week. I got that particular Olds in 2000. The old man I bought it from had not long earlier pulled it out of the original owners(long deceased) hay barn. It had been there since 1968. The motor was a mess because I assume his kids? must have tried rebuilding it the wrong way. Still had a tankful of gas also. The smell was incredible. The gas turned into a wet sawdust type consistency(in my view). I had to get rid of the whole tank.
It's not been on the road yet because of work to do,but I rebuilt the motor. Runs very strong.

I got interested in 58'Buicks from one that sat in a junkyard across from where we lived. I went in there many times to visit it when I was about 14. When I returned from overseas duty in 1987 I planned on acquiring it for parts knowing some day I would get one to restore, but they had just crushed it soon before. I think it was a Century 4dr if memory serves.

I live in New York City. Had a 1958 Buick Special Estate Wagon -- not the Caballero -- but sold it two years ago. Would like to find another.

Sold it because I know Ford products better and figured on concentrating on them. Have two other cars, a 1958 Lincoln Continental (pictures here) and a 1958 Edsel Citation.

When I have a '58 Buick again, I'd like it to be another pillared wagon or one of the Super or Roadmaster models. Two-door or four, it wouldn't matter. Though I would like it to be without rust-through or rot, which the old wagon did have in the tailgate and floors.

I didn't know that you have an Edsel Citation. Is it a two or four door? Can you post a pic of it in the Lounge?

Sad story: you know how rare the convertible Citiations are. I found one in a local juck yard but it was beyond hope - tree growing through the middle of it, frame rusted, all sheet metal just about gone. It was crushed when the yard owner died.

Oh, for those of you who don't know: Chris is the founder of the 1958 Buick Network on Yahoo. So all of this started with his initiative.

It's a two-door model. Solid copper, and I understand one of only two 1958 Edsels to leave the factory painted that way -- based on records collected by Phil Skinner, an avid Edsel historian. (No one knows the whereabouts of the other car.) I bought it in 1988 in good shape, drove it a short while and began restoring it. Set it aside when I bought the Lincoln. And then the Buick. Right now it sits gathering dust, but I'll get to it.

Here are two pictures taken the day I agreed to buy it.

Sorry to hear about the convertible.

HI gang
I'm 59 and am in the high tech/broadband business.
Been a car nut all my life. My Dad worked for Tucker in Chicago in 1947;
making the first couple of Tuckers by hand. He was a master with sheet metal.

My RoadMaster 75 4dr hardtop is my 3rd B58... The first was
a Laurel Mist Special coupe I bought in 1967. It had 27,000 miles and was
literally, perfect. Drove it 50,000 miles in one year! you are all gonna puke now;
I paid $250 for it! The second was a black Super 4dr hardtop I bought from the
back of a Buick dealer's lot right after 2 feet of snow in 1968. Could only see the top of the car!
He said it would only go forward. I cleared away the snow & found it was a rust free
Colorado car with clear plastic still on the seats from new. I needed a cheap quick ride
so I bought it on the spot for.....get this.....! $40.....! The body and paint ended up being
in beautiful shape and I drove it (forward only) to the local Dynaflow expert; rebuild $225,
new battery, tires, and shocks... and I had real beauty for under $600....!

I've had many cars over the years incl. a show winning 35 Ford 3 window coupe, a 52 Ford Woody wagon,
a 76 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, a 1987 Ferrari 412 5 speed, and a 1961 Chevy Impala 2DR sedan...very rare
with only about 1500 being made.

Currently have a 1949 Willys Jeepster with a Buick V6 and a Turbo 350 & a 1973 LeSabre Custom Coupe
that was specially ordered in Black on black, no vinyl top, 455 V8, Turbo 400 trans, a real
sleeper with only 50,00 miles. I love blowing off BMWs at traffic lights in it!
ALl original paint and perfect interior. This one is going up on
Ebay soon to make room for another project....

Lastly, I just semi-retired from vintage drag racing. I campaigned a restored
1969 Top Fuel front engine car for 10 years. Used a stoutly built Chevy Alcohol motor in it
and really did well in it, winning the Good Guys event in Indy in 1997.

WIll try to put up some links to pics or upload pics in the near future.
Great group here! Regards, Mike in Kaneville Illinois
