Hi, I am giving up on the TreadleVac master cylinder I rebuilt, it pressures up somehow and causes the left front brake to stay on. I discovered if you reach into the master cyl with a screwdriver and push down on that valve sticking up, it releases the pressure. Has anyone ran intothis?

Just wanted to update this thread, you'd never know my gears were pitted, now that I've driven her, the car is nice and quiet, no noise from that area.

Re: lowering a 58 buick
I've been wondering this myself, I've had good luck cutting springs, but the problem is you can't cut the rear springs, since they narrow on either end. Never tried heating, I'd say bagging is way to go overall.

Heater core upgrade
My heater core is shot, I don't suppose anyone knows of a core from a newer vehicle that will fit, even with some heater box mods? It's a long shot, thought I'd ask...I refuse to pay $400 or more to have the old one rebuilt, when new ones from newer stuff are typically way cheaper and often easy to ...

Re: 364 and synthetic oil
My current and only Buick The B-59 has alot of valve knock. It started when I switched the oil to a 10W-30 weight full synthetic oil. I tried to compensate for the knock by adding a 5W-40 and alot of Lucas motor oil. Its not as bad but it still knocks. It dont run hot or misfires but it just sounds ...

Adding under-dash lights to Specials the easy way
While taking my dash apart, I noticed 2 stainless steel plates under the upper dash overhang, I assume the fancier models have lights there?

Re: Massive design fail...attention all 58 Buick owners!
Thanks 58Limited, that's been a confusing thing for me on forums, will try that out. I can't imagine why all 58 Buicks wouldn't have this issue sooner or later, maybe yours hasn't worn enough yet.

Massive design fail...attention all 58 Buick owners!
My Special has had an extremely irritating squeak that occurs at any time the car is moving and constantly at highway speed...a high pitched shreeking...imagine a knife edge against a piece of metal...just realized what it is - the throttle linkage bolted to the firewall. It's a vertical shaft held ...

Re: My '58 Special Riviera, from seized to running!
Did you get the exhaust from Kepich? (klasskollection on ebay). I used him for mine, and so far it fits nice. Direct bolt in...cheap too.
No I got mine through classic exhaust, wasn't very happy about the fit...part of the problem is Buick must have used a different exhaust manifold for the ...

I have four hubcaps. There are little dings along the edges from removing and re-installing. The centers need to be replaced, replacements are available from CARS, Inc. If you are interested, make me an offer. I can send pics if you want.

I would have thought it would be better to include at least '57 Buicks, as they are similar cars really, or even all '50's Buicks?

Re: My '58 Special Riviera, from seized to running!
I wanted to update this, finally got the transmission back from the trans shop, $2000 later, and drove her at last on saturday...oh man, was that satisfying!! That long, gorgeous arched hood, huge wraparound glass, great feeling power steering, fantastic Buick ride quality...I just made a half mile ...
